2003 Outstanding Alumni - Andy Crocker
Last year's Outstanding Alumni, Ruben Bonilla, (I) introduced this year's winner as a Corpus Christi a native. He graduated WB Ray High School,and attended University of Texas, Austin, TX. Now President of his family owned company (begun in 1910) Andy's youth paved his way to his positions of leadership today. As a young man he did such interesting work as Summer Camp Counselor and Movie Theater ticket taker in Austin, as Janitor, Repairman, and at Mother Earth - Night Club as Bouncer and later manager in Austin. Who would ever know that those activities would lead Andy to become a driving force in his community and in Leadership Alumni that would grant him the highest honor we can bestow on our colleague as ALUMNI OF THE YEAR.

His community activities have included president of the Downtown Lions Club, receiving Lion of the Year three times. Current Board member of: Goodwill Industries of South Texas (Executive Board); Southwest Movers Association; Red Cross of the Coastal Bend; Red Cross of Texas - State Board Member, and adult leader in- Troop 3 (BSA); member Parkway Presbyterian Church; Chapter Chair of the Council of Adopted Children; and Gulf Western Model Railroad Group.

Andy was president of LCCA when we broke away from the Chamber. It was Andy's strong leadership that won the attention of the nominating committee and confirmed by the LCCA Board.

Andy's real niche has been his work in LEADERSHIP ALUMNI. Serving as first Chair of the Alumni Association, he lead us through the difficult year of rebirth. He has served as committeeman and editor of the LINK since 1996 and was a graduate of Class XXIV, Steering Committee Class XXV, a board member of Leadership Corpus Christi Alumni Association since 1996, Board Member (LDC), Finance Chair (LDC) Vice Chair (LDC); Chair (LCCA) 2000-2001. Past Chair & Special Events Co-Chair; Committee member for By Laws and Special Events.
